 Gina Mangieri is a journalist, entrepreneur and "stay-at-work" mom. She's an on-air reporter and anchor for KHON2 News and recently helped launch KHON2's "2 News Now" daily webcasts online. She has been a print and broadcast reporter in New York, London, Chicago and Washington, D.C. among other locales. Gina came to Hawaii in the 1990’s and prior to joining KHON2, she served as editor of Pacific Business News. She has interviewed President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton one-on-one, and covered Obama's inauguration from Washington.
Born and raised in a family-business environment, Gina and her husband, Doug, carry on the tradition of small-business owners with The Cole Academy child development centers, and Hawaii Nautical boat and ocean activities out of Ko Olina Marina. Gina is a past recipient of the SBA Business Journalist of the Year award for Hawaii as well as Region IX. She also was last year's "Young Businessperson of the Year" as awarded by Pacific Business News. She has bachelors and masters degrees in journalism from Northwestern University -- one of the country's top institutions for the field -- and she has an MBA from the University of Hawaii. She and Doug also try to keep up with their sons Cole, 6, and Rowen, 2 -- any parents of boys know that's a tough job in and of itself!!
